Terms of Service
Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Vox.md ("the app," "we," "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the app.
Description of Service
Vox.md is a quick capture application for iOS and macOS with keyboard, share, widget, and Shortcuts integrations. It writes text, links, images, files, scans, sketches, and voice captures into user-selected Markdown folders, including Obsidian vaults. Optional voice-to-text uses local speech recognition models on your device.
Capture content and voice transcription are not sent to Vox.md servers. Completed files are written only to destinations you choose, and production onboarding analytics are disabled by default as described in the Privacy Policy.
License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Vox.md app on any Apple device that you own or control, subject to Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA) and these Terms. You may not:
- Copy, modify, or distribute the app or any part of it
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
- Rent, lease, lend, sell, or sublicense the app
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose
Speech Models
On supported devices, Vox.md can use Apple's system-managed, on-device speech recognition. Vox.md also allows you to opt into downloads of OpenAI Whisper models, released under the MIT License, or other supported local models. Vox.md does not bundle speech model weights. These models and system services are provided "as is," and we make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of transcription output.
System asset preparation and optional local model downloads may require an internet connection and consume device storage. Transcription can run locally after the selected backend is ready. You are responsible for managing your device storage and data usage related to optional downloads.
User Responsibilities
You agree to the following when using Vox.md:
- You will use the app in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations
- You will not use the app to transcribe audio without the consent of all parties being recorded, where required by law
- You are solely responsible for the content you capture, its destination, and how you use transcription output
- You will grant only the file, photo, camera, microphone, and location permissions needed for the features you choose
- You will confirm that important captures reached the intended note before relying on them
Accuracy Disclaimer
Voice-to-text transcription is performed by machine learning models and is inherently imperfect. Vox.md does not guarantee the accuracy of any transcription. Transcription quality may vary based on:
- The Whisper model size selected (Tiny through Large v3 Turbo)
- Audio quality, background noise, and microphone hardware
- Speaker accent, cadence, and language
- Device processing capabilities
Do not rely on Vox.md for critical, legal, medical, or safety-related transcription without independently verifying the output.
Intellectual Property
The Vox.md app, including its design, code, interface, and branding, is the intellectual property of its developer. The whisper.cpp engine and Whisper models are open-source software subject to their respective licenses.
You retain full ownership of the text, links, media, files, scans, sketches, audio, and generated transcripts you capture. We claim no rights to your content.
Privacy
Please review our Privacy Policy for details. Capture drafts, attachments, file routes, audio, transcripts, keystrokes, and exported content are handled locally; production onboarding analytics are disabled by default.
Disclaimer of Warranties
Vox.md is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, or that defects will be corrected.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall Vox.md or its developer be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages resulting from:
- Your use or inability to use the app
- Any inaccuracies in transcription output
- A failed, delayed, duplicated, or misrouted capture
- Changes made by Obsidian, Files, or a third-party storage provider
- Unauthorized access to or alteration of your data on your device
- Any other matter relating to the app
App Store Terms
Vox.md is distributed through Apple's App Store. Your use of the app is also subject to Apple's standard terms and conditions, including the Licensed Application End User License Agreement. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance, support, or warranty services for the app.
Termination
These Terms are effective until terminated. Your rights under these Terms will terminate automatically if you fail to comply with any of its provisions. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the app and delete it from your devices.
